Often times I get asked, what paint brush I use, paper, and paints, … etc. I know that my peers of beginner artists follow my posts also, not just clients. So today I bring you A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS! These are my go to art supplies I can not be without! I use these supplies EVERY SINGLE DAY in my studio. xo
3. Up & Up Target Brand Paper Towels
7. DESIGN drawing pencil 3800 09114 6H
9. Paint Brushes – Round – Princeton Art & Brush Co. Numbers 2, 4, and 6 are my favorites!
10. Watercolor Paint – Winsor & Newton Cotman Watercolours
11. Sometimes after I have a very loose overworked sketch to start, I simplify by transferring my art to the watercolor block to save on my watercolor paper. I love Royal & Langnickel Graphite Paper in Gray 18″ x 36″ {I cut to the perfect size before using} to get the job done. Most times I lightly erase if the transfer is a bit to dark.
If you are a new artist, pick up your brush and practice, practice, practice. ONLY paint what you LOVE. Ignore other artists’ style and create your very own. Keep in mind, over the years your style will change. And if you are in a super uplifting mood, your art will reflect that.
To be a harmonious artist, you will want to learn the art of relaxing. I am a huge fan of this YOGA music on Songza and doing YOGA every day. Breathing and relaxing are the key to finding your inner calmness.
If you are serious about becoming an artist, this is one of my most favorite books to read. You will NEVER be the same. You will find your creative inner soul and forever be lifted. The Artist’s Way.
If you still find you are not creating or feeling your art … try digging deep into your past and forgive all who have done you wrong, accept all that has happened to you in your life. And step forward into today. Keep it simple and live in the moment.
Celebrate EVERY SINGLE DAY.
It took me 36 years of practice to get to my current illustration style. Enjoy!!! And NEVER give up! Practice makes lovely!
