Hand painted wedding maps are truly a creative way to share directions with your guests.
Following are directions regarding the DIY hand painted map instructions.
SUPPLIES NEEDED
Pencil
Eraser
Watercolor paper
Watercolor paints
Paint brush
A large bowl or measuring cup of water
Sharpie® fine point black marker
Scanner
Printer
Computer
Photo editing program
White cardstock 80lb or thicker
STEP 1
Find an actual map of the area you want illustrated. Decide what streets and details you want illustrated on the map.
Sketch in the details with your pencil. Or use tracing paper if you’re not feeling confident in your sketching. Scan in this art.
STEP 2
Print art very lightly on actual watercolor paper. You should barely see your pencil sketch. Watercolor paint all details. Add finishing touches with your black fine point marker. Add your “artist” signature.
STEP 3
Scan in art. Add all wording. If you can’t draw your characters (whale, etc) you may be able to find high quality (300 dpi) clip art drawings online. Save art at 300 dpi.
STEP 4
Print. Enjoy!!!

This is a wonderful idea for brides like me who are creative. I had thought about a hand sketch of the map of venue and ceremony site but watercoloring it would be such a wonderful keepsake for my guests. Thank you for the idea!
